About Us
The Beginning
Dark Division consists of Husband-and-wife duo, artist Peter aka Rybec and Vicki aka Vix the person that handles everything else.
After our wedding in 2015 Rybec
had the idea of starting an art business, selling high quality, limited run prints, of his favourite anime characters.
Rybec always had a love for cartoons. One of his first memories is watching Tom and Jerry with his grandad.
His passion for animated media grew and during secondary school, excelled in art. He remembers running home after school to catch episodes of Dragonball on Cartoon Network.
Rybec went on to study character development and animation at Wolverhampton University, although he never followed animation as a career, he illustrated for fun, improving his craft, until Dark Division was visualized.
The original business name was Pixel Players, this came from Rybec’s love for video games. Later we rebranded to Dark Division.
Vix has always had a passion for organising, events and music. Dark Division was perfect for her to manage alongside her day job, recruitment. Vix is very much an extrovert and social person. Loves her music and fitness! You can always find her in the dance studio twice a week or at a gig, when she has the time. Vix loves nothing more than planning and travelling!
You won’t find her on the sofa, binge watching a popular show when there's work to be done or an adventure to be had!
During early development Vix, set up social pages and applied for trader spaces at, pop culture conventions around the UK. In the beginning we were happy with a couple of ComiCon's a year, the business was still a side project, that we fit around our day job’s.
As the business grew, we started traveling further afield, attending conventions across the country, from Aberdeen to London.
We’re very lucky to have an amazing friend who has helped us endlessly with her knowledge and contacts within the convention scene. Travelling can be a lonely endeavour however, with good friends and meeting likeminded people, it’s never boring.
Our Future plan is to keep drawing the art you love. Creating new, tactile ways customers can showcase their love for anime. All while having the greatest adventure possible.
Thanks for reading and if you have any other questions regarding Rybec’s drawing process, or even setting up your own cottage industry, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
